Hybrid Savage

Chanchal’s series explores the hybrid language of Indian mythology through a postmodern lens.

By rejecting ideas of uniformity and seamless integration, the work embraces contradiction and complexity. Chanchal constructs a visual space where opposing forces, such as the sacred and the profane, tradition and modernity, vitality and decay, coexist in tension. Through this interplay, the artist offers a new imaginary that reflects the layered, often paradoxical nature of contemporary life.

The imagery merges rural and urban motifs, organic and synthetic forms, and themes of desire, ritual, and societal constraint.
These juxtapositions create a layered visual language that challenges binary thinking and reflects the complexity of contemporary identity.
